What is the difference between a Trauma Care Practitioner and a Therapist?
As a Trauma Care Practitioner, my role is distinct from that of a Licensed Therapist. I do not diagnose mental health conditions, prescribe medications, or provide clinical treatments. Instead, I offer support as a knowledgeable mentor, ensuring that you feel understood and accompanied on your path to wholeness. I believe you possess an intrinsic vision of the life you want to live, though trauma can obscure this clarity. At Renewed Wholeness, I assist you in navigating these challenges, helping you reconnect with your true self. By challenging the distortions trauma may have imposed, we uncover a clearer, healthier perspective of yourself and the world.

“Recovery can take place only within the context of relationships.”
- Judith Lewis Herman
The Role of a Trauma Care Practitioner:
A Trauma Care Practitioner is differentiated from other types of coaching and therapy in several ways:
Recognition of Unique Needs: I recognize the unique, complex, and specific needs of trauma survivors. My methods, resources, and techniques are tailored to help clients recover from the aftereffects of trauma. This is the sole focus of my work.
Non-Pathologizing Approach: I do not pathologize the trauma responses my clients have. I don’t label what they are experiencing as wrong or bad. Instead, I recognize that they are having normal reactions to abnormal experiences.
Equality and Collaboration: There is no power differential in Trauma Care Practitioner sessions. I work with my clients as peers and equals. Our relationship is mutual, collaborative, and focused on shared growth and development.
Client-Led Sessions: Trauma Care Practitioner sessions are always client-led. I believe my clients have the inner tools to heal from trauma and the resilience to respond and protect themselves. Through our work together, I provide guidance to help you uncover and activate these tools.
Empowering Your Path to Healing: I do not set recovery goals or define when you should feel “recovered.” Instead, I guide you in uncovering your unique path to healing, supporting you in discovering the inner resources needed to create the life you want.
